  • Length: 57.6 in (1.46m)
  • Height: 16 in (406mm)
  • Weight: 12 - 13 lb (5 - 5.7 kg)
  • Power Plant: DLE 20

Description from Robert:
"This is a kit I got from Mustache Model Works, I have spent about 110 hours building this kit. The kit was laser cut and all parts go together very well, even so I would not say that it is an easy kit to build. Not many modification were done but required a lot of patience and a handful of skill to get through the build"

Member Project: Roberto's Modular plane Storage Rack

6/19/2018

A big thanks to Roberto for sharing his  DIY Modular Plane Storage Rack. For anyone interested in building one he has supplied us with a complete list of materials and some photos to help anyone through the process.

Materials

  • 2 Uprights to be drilled to the wall: 12.00 each  IMG 8927 and 8926
  • Brackets 14 inches: 6.00 each, 2 per plane or wing. IMG 8928
  • Brackets 10 inches: 5.00, 2 per plane or wing
  • Dowels: 36 inches: 4.50 each. Need two of them to make use of 4 brackets. IMG 8930
  • Foam Insulation: 1.50 for 6 feet, enough for 4 brackets.

The initial expense will be 24.00 for the 2 uprights. If you have a choice go for 10 inch brackets with extensions on Oak Dowels, the total cost per plane after that is 15.25 more or less for each pair of supports to store a wing or a plane. The dowels can also extend longer if 2 planes or wings will be stored on one stack. This is the initial idea that can be fully customized to suit each individual needs. Planes will be off the floor and onto a safe wall space.

The Completed Rack

The picture below shows a 10 inch bracket with a 14” dowel covered on foam insulation. The dowel is secured to the bracket by 2 screws that are different in length.

Show & Tell (February 9th, 2018)

After a year of work Anthony B's 26% Pitts build is almost ready for covering. Just some finishing touches and some sanding and bevel work on the control surfaces and this thing will start to look like an airplane!
